Examination system of inventions related to IoT

In our previous blog, we wrote that the Japan Patent Office (JPO) created a new patent classification (ZIT) for IoT (Internet of Things) based technologies.
Thereafter, in April 2017, JPO announced that it has established an new examination system of inventions related to IoT.
specialized team consisting of approximately 50 examiners was organized so that they would review the inventions including business model etc.
The reason for establishing such an examination system is that the Government of Japan believes that inventions relating to IOT will be the source of competitiveness of many companies, and will bring innovation to the japanese economic society.
