JASRAC Submitted The Royalty Regulations
Zen International Patents and Trademarks
Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) submitted to the Agency for Cultural Affairs the royalty regulations* stipulating collection of royalties from music schools.
In this regulations, it is stipulated to enable collecting 2.5% of annual lessons fees of the music schools from January 2018.
On the other hand, as we wrote in our previous blog, the music schools is opposed to collecting royalty fees, and Yamaha music foundation, Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. etc. plan to bring a lawsuit against JASRAC.
We will continue to observe this conflict in the future.
*Under the Act on Copyright, etc. Management Service of japan, a copyright management business operator shall establish a royalty regulations and notify the Agency for Cultural Affairs in advance.
