TM5 has released 50 examples of trademak applications which registrations were canceled as “bad faith filing” in each country such as the United States, China, Japan and so on.

※TM5 is a cooperative framework that is comprised of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC) and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).

As Japanese example, “KUMA vs. PUMA case” is cited.

The trademark “KUMA(which means “bear” in Japanese) + bear’s silhouette design” was cancelled since the mark was likely to cause confusion with the well known PUMA trademark.
