According to a report released by the Japan Patent Office (JPO), approximately 40% of the number of patent applications related to smart manufacturing technology have been filed from Japan.
However, most of patent applications related to the data transfer technology in factory and the analysis technique utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) have been filed from the United States.
In this report, JPO insists that as a future direction, it is necessary to advance research and development focusing on the following points:
- Mechanism for efficiently collecting information necessary for management to use PDCA cycle in real time
- Utilization of sophisticated information processing technology such as "AI"
